Privacy Notice

ClearMend, a service of Kira Health · Last updated August 2026

ClearMend is a virtual postpartum mental health service provided by Kira Health, a physician-led clinic operating in Alberta. This notice explains what personal and health information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. We are a custodian of health information under Alberta's Health Information Act and handle your information according to our obligations under that Act and applicable privacy law.

What we collect

When you complete the ClearMend intake form, we collect the information you provide, which may include your name, date of birth, contact details, Alberta Health Care number, information about your pregnancy or your baby, your answers to standardized mental-health questionnaires (such as the EPDS and, for partners, the GMDS), and anything you choose to tell us in your own words. This is health information, and we treat it accordingly.

Why we collect it

We collect this information for one purpose: to provide you with a physician callback and appropriate postpartum mental health care. Your answers help the physician who calls you understand your situation before the conversation, so that the call is as useful and safe as possible. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or share it for marketing.

Who sees your information

Your information is reviewed by the ClearMend clinical team — our Medical Office Assistant and the Alberta-licensed physicians who provide the service — and is entered into your Kira Health medical chart. It is not shared with anyone outside your care except where we are required or permitted to do so by law, or where sharing is necessary to protect your safety or someone else's.

How your information reaches us and how it's protected

When you submit the form, your information is carried securely to a private clinical inbox that only the ClearMend team can access, and is protected in transit. Your information is not stored on the public website, and the form does not retain your answers after they are sent. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information throughout its lifecycle, consistent with our obligations as a health information custodian.

ClearMend is not an emergency service. If you are struggling or thinking of harming yourself, call or text the Suicide & Crisis Helpline at 988, the Alberta Mental Health Help Line at 1-877-303-2642, or Health Link at 811. In an emergency, call 911.

Your choices and rights

You may ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it's wrong, or ask questions about how it's handled. You can also withdraw from the service. To make any of these requests, contact us using the details below. If you have a concern about how your health information has been handled that we are not able to resolve, you have the right to contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
